Searching...

I have become absolutely fascinated with the life of Marie Antoinette as of late. I believe she is one of history's most misunderstood and tragic characters. Our library is quite limited in what it has on her, but if anyone has read anything about her, biographies in particular, I would love to know what you read and what you thought. I am hoping to check out the one book the library does have and I'm hoping it's not too boring. I just think she is absolutely fascinating!

Please Forgive Me...

I know it's been a week since I've blogged...I am SOOOO sorry! A quick blog here to catch you all up! First of all, Chris stole my camera batteries and that's why there have been no pictures. That is not to say that we haven't had any picture worthy moments. We have taken on a new family hobby...model rockets! We seem to have a small addiction with it. Jaxon, in particular LOVES it. Mykenzie thought it was cool until she got the exhaust from the rocket in her face...not she avoids it. The noise scares Jayden. We bought a set up on Friday and went and shot it off 5 times! We went again on Saturday, but the parachute melted and we only got to shoot it off twice! The countdown for Benjamin is now two days! CRAZY! He's coming home on Friday morning! We are so excited to see him. We had Jon and Brittany (chris brother and sister-in-law) over for dinner on Saturday. They have the cutest dog in the world. He is a dalmation and is named Ace. He is so adorable. I need to get a picture and post it on here of him. My kids (jayden included) absolutely adore him! We enjoyed our visit with Jon and Brittany and hope we can have more like it in the future. They are expecting in October...and we can't wait to have an anderson cousin...and for them to join the ranks of parents...and finally understand what it's like :) We went and say Pirates of the Carribean III this weekend...good movie, bad seats! We also took the kids to Shrek 3 on Monday for FHE. It wasn't as good as the other Shrek movies, but it was entertaining and a good way to end a great weekend. Cris came up and spent Saturday, Sunday and Monday with us. We didn't do too much (I hope you weren't too bored, cris) but we loved having him here! He got a few pictures of the rocket so you could check out his blog for that. We went to Caspers on saturday afternoon after playing at the park. We LOVE caspers! Those who have been here to visit LOVE Casper's too!
Anyway...much to do so I must get doing it. The camera is back in full function, so I shall take pictures today!

And This Will Be New To You Too...

For Ben's Benefit

For those of you who don't know, Chris' brother, Benjamin, has been serving a mission for our church in Canada for the last two years. We talked to him for a few minutes on Mother's Day and discovered that he is one of our loyal blog watchers. He comes home June 1st (which is a week from this Friday). So, this blog is for you Benj! Here is what changes in our family you will probably notice most: This picture of Jaxon was taken in February of 2005...that was about 4 months before you left.
This picture of Mykenzie was taken in October of 2005, that is about 4 1/2 months after you left.
This picture of Jaxon was taken just this morning.
This picture of Mykenzie was also taken this morning!

You were saying how much they've changed....there's the proof! They tested out your bed at Grandpa's house...apparently it is jumpy enough! We can't wait to see you next Friday! Work hard! We love you!

THE Hobby

For you who don't know Chris too well...he is a hobby person. He has a few of them, his biggest is RC vehicles. Cars/Trucks are his most consistent hobby, but he really loves boats and at one time did airplanes and he had a helicopter about a year ago. Anyway, part of the hobby is not just driving the cars, but upgrading their parts and painting new bodies. It's a good stress reliever for him and a way for him to unwind and have a little fun. Seeing as last week was a difficult one for Chris and I, you will not be too shocked by this post! This is a new body that he painted for a new car (steal of a deal on e-bay...the seller must not have known how much it was worth!) It is a Lamorghini Murcielago body...he did an awesome job...it's one of my favorites. This car is super fast...a fun one to drive, but he can't drive it on our pot holed streets...to bumpy! Anyway...just wanted to share his creative genius with you all!

Renovations...

Chris has moved his office from the storage room to the guest room...he LOVES that he has more space and now that he has more space and there is a couch (the futon for those who would LOVE to visit) we will actually sit in his office and hang out while he works!

Renovations

I got so sick of our plain front yard....the small little flower bed was killing me, so we (meaning I) dug up the sod and moved some stuff around and bought a few more plants to create a flower bed that now goes the length of the front of the house...I have big dreams for the back yard!

The above photos are curtesy of Jaxon!

Monkey See, Monkey Do..

So the other day, Chris got was documenting his RC history (read: he was taking digital pictures of pictures of his old RC cars). He was sitting at the table and setting them all up. After watching this, it was not much of a shocker when the next morning, I found Jaxon sitting at the table with his dragons all posed and taking pictures--and not a few! He took pictures of them with their mouths open, pictures with their wings up and then down...group pictures, single pictures....he went ALL out! It was so funny to watch...kids really do do what they see adults doing!

The Adventures Never End...

But sometimes they aren't as "adventurous" as other times! This weekend we kind of "checked out of real life". We sat home on Saturday pondering the vastness of the universe (aka watching Harry Potter). We were trying to unwind from the week...which was really crazy! Plus it was raining and snowing and Chris had a lot of work to do. SO...I cut Jaxon's hair. It was a first. Besides cutting his neck (oops!) it turned out pretty good. Now I don't have to wait for chris to find time to do that...I can do it myself! Chris got a raise at work this past week, so keeping in fine LaPierre tradition we went out to dinner. It was nice to get Chris away from his computer for a little while. We had a MOST enjoyable time and even ordered dessert! (that's a big thing for us!) I had something kind of like mom's choco hoto pots...it was SOOOOO good. Anyway...Chris is holding our camera hostage at work (really he just has a photo sim he has to get done and the work camera is being occupied by another employee). So pictures will rejoin the blog as soon as I get it back!

Code E-3

Nightmare of all nightmares...I took all 3 of my kids shopping for clothes at a store that doesn't have carts they can ride in! I was thinking they'd be good and listen...quick in and out...get what we need, be done! It all started last Sunday when I was attempting to get Mykenzie ready for church...she has long sleeve, cold weather dresses, but not much for summer. So I thought I'd take today, go into town and get the girl some sunday clothes. The day started off well enough...but somewhere between the fight over who gets to push the cart and Mykenzie getting mad, I lost all control! Mykenzie wanted to throw a fit because she didn't get to push Jayden. She starts hiding under all the clothing racks (of course, right as we're ready to leave), plus she's mad at me...so she doesn't want to be found. After Jaxon and I run around the store like mad people calling her name and looking for her, we finally get worried and run to customer service who immediately call out a code 3 (apparently that is a missing child code). The place just comes to life...all employees stop what they are doing and start searching the store. What I can only assume was a manager asks me to quickly follow him to the front of the store to inspect the little girls leaving making sure no one is walking out with my daughter (at this point I am completely paranoid thinking the worst). The employees spread out and start searching with my lovely description of her clothing. After what feels like a half and hour, my manager "friend" says she's in the back...and there she is....as soon as she sees me she tries to start running away again...can you say...NEVER TAKING MY KIDS TO THE STORE WITH ME AGAIN! This is EXACTLY why I do my grocery shopping at night when Chris is home and they are IN BED!

Blue Feet, New Teeth and a Big Ol' Bump

Blue foot from the doctor's yesterday. The doctor always does footprints of the baby's feet...the blue dye apparently doesn't come off as easy as the green or black! Other than being kind of on the small side, and a small cold...he's a happy and healthy little guy. He is 27 3/4" tall (that's the 35%) and he is 18 lbs 5 oz (that's the 23%). But that also means that he's just about tripled his birthweight of 6lbs 2 oz!

Jayden has sprouted two teeth in the last little while! He's loving them. It's always so funny when the first teeth come in...he was constantly feeling them with his tongue!

This morning while we were all about the house playing, Jayden pulled a stool down on his head. I don't know how well you can see it, but he had a pretty nasty bump that has gone down since icing it...and a big ol' bruise! Poor guy...

Hard to believe these were all taken this morning!
