It's That Time of Year...Again

One day it's so hot you can hardly stand it, the other day it's snowing...it must be spring soccer! Oh MY GOSH...Jaxon and I about froze to death on saturday...as you can see, he wasn't exactly running all over either. It was COLD!

I think kids soccer is a funny thing. The "big thing" on Jaxon's team is to be goalie. Except they aren't really supposed to have goalies. So when they kick off, two of the kids run to the goal and hang out there until the whistle blows. It doesn't matter where everyone else is or what everyone else is doing. If the ball comes near them, they try their hardest to kick it out. The only problem is, that they are actually standing IN THE GOAL, so by the time they kick it, the other team has already scored! They are fun to watch, if nothing else.

Jaxon scored a goal in their first game. He seems to be a little more on top of what's going on this season.

9 months!

9 MONTHS, already! Wow...it sure has gone by fast. Payton visited our favorite Dr. O today. He is 17 lbs 4 oz...for his birthday he is less than 5%, but adjusted, he's 45%. He was also 27 1/2 inches long he was in the 30% not adjusted and 70% adjusted. He's sitting up, but still a little tipsy and rolling ALL over. He got his first tooth these last few days. The nurses were all happy to see him today and couldn't get over his "gorgeous eyes" and his chubby cheeks.

We are going to be doing the March of Dimes here in May. (the 16th to be exact). The March of Dimes does research on prematurity as well as birth defects. They are responsible for the research of surfactant which was used to help Payton breath while he was on the ventilator. (Just a little FYI)

Where oh, where have we been?

SICK! That's where we've been. Jayden's had a temperature--maxing out at 103.8! Yes, that is high. It finally broke last night and he is resting up for a rambunctious day tomorrow. After seeing him sluggish, unable to get the energy to eat, it is a welcomed turn around. We missed his messes and interesting antics...it's good to have him back!
Mykenzie on the other hand, is still on the mend with a wicked cough...that RSV did something awful to her when she was 6 months old. She never has quite recovered and every time she gets a cold it sounds like she's coughing up a lung.

OK, so answer me this...what is it about doctors that make all the symptoms disappear? So Jayden was having a high fever and really lethargic (nice word, huh). I was worried about it, so I called the dr. We set an appointment for 3:30. I make Mykenzie get dressed (she loved that) and called to get Jaxon dismissed a few minutes early from school. I got Jayden up to get at least a shirt on and all of the sudden, his temperature drops and he's laughing and playing! So we cancelled that doctor's appointment. A few hours later was when he hit his max temperature for the duration. WHY IS THAT?

Easter Baskets

And then we have the Easter baskets hidden around the house on Sunday morning. I believe Payton's was under his chair.
Jayden's was in the coat closet hiding under a coat on the rack. He got a MUCH needed pair of shoes.
Jaxon's basket was on top of the grandfather clock...he got a new tie.
Mykenzie's basket was hanging on the shower curtain rod behind the curtain...it took a few minutes to find that one. She got a new dress that she picked out herself...
and here's a close up of the dress...'cause it's just so cute!

Anyway...we died easter eggs with grammy, did an easter egg hunt with grammy...and of course the traditional easter egg roll...that turns out to be a contest of who can throw it the farthest. But our camera batteries were dead for all of that...so use your imagination! It was fun!

We started a new easter tradition...we decided to take the leftover boiled eggs up to the gun range and shoot them. I was unable to go because Jayden fell asleep so Chris took Jaxon and Mykenzie. He said that they made a cool sound when you hit them! And of course...since only one adult at the gun range...no pictures...but I heard it was pretty cool!

Jelly Bean Hunt

jayden was SO excited about it all. (you know, candy just lying all over the floor...he's in HEAVEN!) Jaxon said it was the best Jelly Bean hunt EVER! considering the fact that no one in the house (besides jayden) even likes jelly beans!

Howdy, Neighbors!

This was so funny. The other day, as soon as dinner was over, Jayden strapped on his trusty cowboy boots and headed out the front door mumbling something about going to talk. After a minute when I realized he'd just walked out the door by himself and I had NO idea where he was going we set about looking for him. Chris found him out our bedroom window....chatting it up with our neighbor and her 14 year old son! While we observed quietly from our room, we watched him share a tic tac (that's BIG tic tacs are like gold in our home). He just sat their and talked to her until she went inside and sent him to jump on her trampoline! What a funny kid!

Deja Vu

Some of you might remember an experience we had with food coloring a few years ago. Well, those who don't remember...all over the carpet, the couch, the walls...it was a disaster. Of course, not to be out done, Jayden decided to repeat this awesome experience for us this morning. ALL OVER THE COUNTER, the cabinet and the floor. Purple seemed to be the dominant color this time...AWESOME! It took me a while to clean it up and Jayden ...so mykenzie was sufficiently late to ballet class today. I didn't take a very good picture, because i didn't want it to sit for too much longer on the porous surfaces...
the "artist"
So many people laughed at us when we bought our Kirby, but I can't even tell you how many times that little "sucker" has saved our hides...yet again, Kirby to teh rescue...this stuff is awesome. it cleaned the stubborn purple stuff of the counter and the nasty blue off the cabinets. You can hardly tell Jayden was ever there!

Go SOX!

A little festive for the holiday...or what should be a holiday...opening day at Fenway Park! When I was younger...living at home and such...there was an ice cream parlor in Lexington (?) called Chadwicks. They had this cool thing that they would do on opening day at Fenway. If you came dressed up in some sort of Red Sox attire, they would give you free ice cream. We went a few times that I can remember...we had to dig up at least 12 different Red Sox items. I know one year someone went as a towel!

We will be celebrating appropriately: hot dogs and soda for dinner with cracker jacks for dessert!

Bigger Plate

Mykenzie LOVES rice. In fact, we sometimes call her the rice queen. She can consume more rice than I can. She loves it. Last night we had rice with our dinner. I had to take this picture of mykenzie and her rice. I said something about her rice being all over the table...she said, "Mom, I just need a bigger plate!"

Crazy Hair day

I know it's been a while since I've posted, but you know how it goes for me. I promise I wasn't doing anything productive or inspiring. I promise, I was wasting my time (at least from one perspective) and kind of ignoring my family and my home. I also promise that I'm not gonna tell you what took my attention away from all these important endeavors that are my life. (I'm kinda embarrassed!)

Anyway...last friday was crazy hair/pajama day at Park elementary school. Chris and Jaxon got up early to make this AWESOME hair do. It didn't move...not even the tiniest little bit until it got washed out late Friday night! It was so awesome. Jaxon was only too excited about the fact that he didn't have to get dressed in the morning. Funny guy!
