First Haircut

Yes, we finally said good-bye to the AWESOME mullet! It was a sad day...for Payton. He was not a big fan of the haircutting experience. In fact, he hated it! Here he is unsuspecting and happy.
Our popsicle trick that has worked so well in the past was totally lost on Payton. There was NOTHING that was keeping him from crying. He screamed and screamed and screamed and totally refused the popsicle.
He kept trying to get me to save him and get him out.
I love his face in this picture (above)...he was so funny.

he cried even when it was all over. He cried all through his bath too. Poor guy. He'll only have to have a ton of these in his lifetime...no worries, right?!

Ouch!

So this morning, things were going smoothly and everyone seemed to be under control. (Well, let's be honest, as much under control as things get in our sometimes crazy home.) Jaxon was getting ready for school, Mykenzie and Jayden and Payton had all eaten breakfast. They were just playing around upstairs, so I figured this was my perfect opportunity to take a shower (a better opportunity might not present itself for another few hours). So I hurried and showered. As I'm just getting out, I can faintly hear Jayden crying (not really so unusual in our home) and then mykenzie comes running in and says, "Jayden is bleeding EVERYWHERE. There's a lot of blood, mom!"So I wrap up in a towel and run into the kitchen. I see blood...kind of a lot of it and jayden sitting on the counter just crying with blood on both hands. Then he starts shaking his bloody hand all over (blood goes all over the kitchen). And I see on the counter beside him a popsicle still in the wrapper with a knife through it. So now I know what happened. He had cut his finger pretty bad. We contemplated the Instacare for stitches for a few minutes. It was bleeding badly and I couldn't get it to stop. We got a bandaid on it, but then it bled through the bandaid. It's not a very big cut, but it sure bled A LOT. Anyway...he seems to have survived and hopefully a little less comfortable with the kitchen knives when I'm not around!

Camera Shy

Now there is one phrase you will never hear describe my children. Last night at dinner, I got the camera out to take a picture of payton (the picture you will see above). Not a half a second after I get it out, Jayden starts crying to have his picture taken. So of course, I oblige. (Seriously, that kid is SO irresistable!)
I said, "Smile, Jayden" and ended up with the above picture...

So I tell him, "Jayden, smile big...a REAL smile" and get the above picture.
"Jayden, one more try...smile" the result above. Apparently he just wanted to see his picture.
But not even a second after that, Kenzie says, "mom, take my picture too."

She called this pose her "kissy face"!

SPRING! YAY!

(the bathroom shelves FINALLY faced off and made to look a little nicer)

I love this time of year...the warm weather, the thunder storms and the desire to do something about that house! A little freshening up, if you will. The projects so far this year include: painting the bathrooms (they were really buggin' Chris...too white!) and adding a little character to the outside of the house.

I'm not so sure what it is about this time of year

yes, shower curtains AND door...you never know who will walk in when!

we painted all three bathrooms, but two is more than enough for one blog post!
notice the shutters...i know, it's not a great picture...probably should have taken it while the sun was the other way, but you get the general idea. I LOVE the shutters and door and they add some character to the house.
here's the close up for you...
