the Kids

The other night Chris and I were watching a movie downstairs, so Jaxon and Mykenzie were watching a movie in our bed. They fell asleep and it was just SO cute, we had to take a picture! Best of friends...

Getting Involved

Last week Chris got a phone call from a Richmond City Council Member asking him to volunteer for the city Planning and Zoning Commission. His dad has served on the commission for a number of years and recommended Chris for the position because of his experience and knowledge! After talking with his dad and this council member Chris has decided to take on the task. They meet once a month at the city offices to review any and all construction matters within the city limits. He is kind of excited to be that involved with the community and to be able to always know what is going on around here as far as growth and expansion go. He has a two day seminar that he is supposed to go to in April and is trying to get Cartwrights to allow him to take the seminar for work (it'd cost two days of work or two vacation days). Cartwrights is trying to get more involved in civil engineering and subdivisions and that kind of thing, so he just about has his bossed convinced that this seminar can help their company. The city will pay for it, he just doesn't want to have to take vacation days for it. Anyway! We know he'll do great!

Weekend Fun!

Hello out there! Here are some pictures of Jaxon and Mykenzie wearing Chris' pants! We kind of like to have lazy Saturdays...and this was one of those!

Jaxon is now officially registered for Kindergarten. We're hoping to get in the AM group so we can still run our errands in the afternoon before the rest of the valley is out of school! good luck to us, huh! He met one of the first grade teachers and she took him down to the kindergarted room to show him. He saw the class fish and I think he might have met the teacher...not really sure. He was pretty excited to start school after getting a peek at what is in store. Is it too soon to start counting the days :)

President's Day Snow Storm

So, it snowed Sunday night, so Chris got to start his President's Day Off snowblowing our driveway and the neighbors. The kids wanted to help him do Mr. Jorgensen's driveway, so that's what these are of. (no, I do NOT drive a minivan). We had a short snowball fight that really consisted of me throwing a few at chris and then running in the house for protection. The kids and I made a snowman, but we didn't get to go sledding yet. Maybe tomorrow.

Walking in a Winter Wonderland

I know it's been forever...I've been busy and a little sick, so I apologize.
Yesterday they were predicting snow for last night with accumulations of about 1". Well, we woke up this morning to somewhere around 6 or 7". So after running a few errands (ie to the Pepperidge Farm thrift store--we LOVE those fishies and Theurer's) we put Jayden down for a nap and went out and made a snowman! This is snowman number three for us this winter. It snowed Sunday night so the kids and I made a snowman that night, but the temperature had dropped and the snow didn't stick as well. This is our best one yet!

6 years!

OK, so not the greatest picture in the world of either of us, but its a picture. (I might add that we have both lost a little weight since this...yeah, for us!)
ANYWAY, so do you know exactly where you were and what you were doing 6 years ago TODAY? Today is actually the day (including day of the week) that we were married 6 years ago. I believe at this time 6 years ago we were at our wedding lunch and had been married for a few hours. If I remember correctly, Jamie had hit the van or vice versa into Michelle Adam's car that morning at seminary. I remember few of the things that were said that day by Brother Chandler, but I do remember the way I felt. It was so wonderful to be in the temple with the people who mean the most to me and covenanting to be a partner and wife with Chris for eternity. I know our engagement shocked almost everyone (I think only my roommates were not suprised!) and it all went so quickly from first date to wedding, but I picked a good one! Chris is the most wonderful man I know. I love him so much more today than I did back then. He is always my biggest fan and largest supporter. He is my very best friend. I have loved our 6 years together. We've had our troubles, but they have certainly brought us closer together. There is no one I would rather struggle with than him. Last night we went to the temple to do sealings in celebration of our own. What an amazing thing that was to allow others the same experience we had and to be reminded of the promises and covenants we made and were given. This is one good man, and I love him with all my heart :)

Rise and Shout, the Cougars are Out!

So, Renee gave this T-shirt to Jayden for Christmas. It is SOOOO cute. It has a baby cougar on it with the head board of a crib...it says, "Victory party at my crib!" How cute is that?!

Valentine Hugs from Grandma Dottie

Grandma Dottie sent the kids these "hugs" for Valentine's Day. The kids absolutely LOVE them. I couldn't get Jaxon to sit still long enough to get a nice picture of his face, but this one kind of reminds me of Jamie :) Happy Heart Day (as mom would say!)

Camera man

This is the picture of the weekend (and every other weekend time these guys come up). Mykenzie and Jaxon always take cameras and phones and take pictures of everything and anything. I think here Jaxon was taking a picture of Chris taking a picture. You'll have to ask Betsy how many useless pictures he took...a few of Jamie's elbows and stomach. I believe Mykenzie took a few of the couch, the cabinets...anything else that was at her level...they just LOVE to use other poeple's stuff.

WONDERFUL WEEKEND!

THANK YOU ALL for a most wonderful weekend. We greatly enjoyed all our time together. It was so fun to get together and have lots of new memories. Thanks for making the drive on both ends. We are hoping and planning on a great party for Carrie and Lisa's birthday!!!

4 hugs a day?!

I'm not entirely sure where this idea that everyone needs 4 hugs a day came from. I've just heard Chris' mom, Janet, say it. Anyway, if that really is the truth. Here was number 5,731 for these guys yesterday (of course that is just a bit of an exaggeration). These guys are best of friends and worst of enemies. They are so funny to watch. Their interactions make me laugh. Anyway, I really just liked this picture and since i haven't posted one of Mykenzie lately...here you are. They are not so patiently awaiting their visitors tonight to share a few of these with them! (Cris, Katy, Jamie, Betsy and Renee) and of course their cousins tomorrow (Alex, Brigham and Lizzie...oh yeah, carrie and mark too!) we can't wait to see you guys :) I better go clean the bathrooms so Jamie can continue to think that they are always clean!

Thumbsucka

Now this I believe is genetic! Jayden is a thumb sucker. No matter how many times Chris and I try to pull out his finger or substitute with a binky (something that can eventually be taken away) Jayden simply will not give it up. I have to admit that sometimes it is kind of nice that he doesn't really need me to constantly carry something that will sooth him. But I fear a 8 year old sucking his thumb in public (can't imagine where that fear originated).
Last night was so cute!!! I put him to bed and just SCREAMED. Usually he just goes down really easy and plays (and sucks his thumb) until he falls asleep. But last night he was just really upset. SO, I went against all my rules and picked him up and rocked him until he was mostly asleep. It was so wonderful. He just cuddled right up on my shoulder and just sat there. I guess sometimes a baby just really does need his mommy!

Mr. K'Nex

Jaxon got a small set of K'Nex for Christmas and he just LOVES it. Yesterday he made the horse, rabbit, turtle, runnerman, bike, and boat all by himself. That boat is not east ...trust me! Here he is displaying the horse. He wouldn't let me actually have a good picture of his face AND the horse, so this is the best we can do.

PS I do believe Gpa has a larger set of K'Nex? The "obsession" must be genetic!

What is up with this?

OK, so embarassing confession. I have been watching "Friends". I borrowed season one from Ashlee (of course after noting that she has all 10 seasons). I'm afraid to confess that I watched the entire first season in like 2 days. That will be two weeks ago tomorrow. I am currently on season 4. What can I say, I'm obsessed. I'll sit down to watch one episode while the kids are taking a "rest" and then an undisclosed amount of time later, i finally come to and realize I've been sitting there glued for quite a substantial amount of time. Anyway, I am trying to limit my "Friends" intake to a few episodes a day. However, last night, Chris had to work on some plans for our business late into the night, and what kind of loving, caring wife would I be if I just went to bed, so....we watched almost and entire disk about 8 episodes...but I was being supportive....RIGHT?!

Can It Be True?

Any guesses on what happens to this guy on February 26th or 27th?

He registers for Kindergarten! Can you believe that Jaxon will be starting school in August? He is so excited. I hear that the teacher here at Park School is just awesome. I know he'll be really young for the class, but I'm sure he'll do fine. All the things I worry about him (ie his need to tell everyone EVERYTHING) everyone tells me is normal and he'll be fine. I'm not so secretly SO excited for him. He'll LOVE it.

Global Warming

All I have to say is over 50 degrees in Cache Valley in the beginning of February.
