Hike!

Yes, indeed, you did read that right! I took my family on a HIKE. You know how we LOVE the great outdoors...well some of us actually do. Cris came up to spend a few days with us and out of lack of things to do and funding to do the "fun" things, I came up with this great idea. We'd take the kids up one of the canyons for a little hike. Let them climb some rocks, throw some rocks in the water and collect a few rocks...all the while wearing them out and enjoying a little of what we have nearby...MOUNTAINS!

Cris was gonna climb up the face of the big rock to scare them...not so sure that worked out for him!

I wouldn't let him climb the big rock...he didn't like that.

the rocks nearby are never good enough

throwing rocks in the water
Kenzie's shoes got wet and then started giving her blisters...so Chris picked her up and carried her for a minute or two
then, of course, Jayden wanted a turn too
Cris' solution to the wet shoe problem...walk on the heels of the shoe...which was OK until she followed him "off-roading"

Cris and Kenzie blazing their own trail
Payton wanted a ride and proof that I was there.
waiting for the stragglers
I can't believe I caught this on camera...the boys (jax and jayden) were throwing rocks and playing in them. Jayden tried to throw a rock past Jax and hit him right in the head. Notice Chris disciplining and Jaxon holding his head and the look on Cris' face!
The end of the hike, everyone was tired and whiny...and Jaxon had a little bump from the rock. Cris cooked us some awesome Southwest chicken Chili that at least 3 of us enjoyed...maybe 4! Thanks for coming Cris...we had a great time, again :) And thanks for the chili...it was wonderful!
and to those who will understand...we had sunday beans the next night and leftover chili a few nights later. We had one unhappy bean hater :)

It was fun! If you'd only been a little quicker on that pic. We'll have to do it again!

It's experiences like this that make we wonder how mom and dad ever dared take us anywhere! Camping w/ let's say 6 kids? Wow.

Ha! I just realized you got the before and after pics! You can see the rock in Jayden's hand. It's as big as his hand, too! Seriously, any other direction would have worked. Why he picked the direction he did no one will ever know.

"light dawns on Marblehead", they say
I don't remember any sad stories from our camping trips or other adventures, should I?

What an adventure...and poor Jax...why do you like to torture him so much?!
